Two interior architects and a DJ pioneer: the story of We Are Klank

There are DJ booths. And there is WE ARE KLANK.

Anyone looking for a DJ booth today finds plenty on offer. Steel frames, flight cases, standard models in black. They do what they are supposed to do.

But a booth never stands on its own. It stands in a club, a bar, a studio or a living room. And there it belongs to the interior, not against it.

That is why we brought together two worlds that rarely meet: high-end interior architecture and decades of experience behind the decks. That is how We Are Klank was born.

Who we are

We Are Klank has three partners: Geert Van Riet, Ben Depuydt and DJ Ghost.

Geert and Ben are interior architects with years of experience in high-end interiors and furniture design. They think in space, light, material and finish. They also play behind the decks themselves, as the DJ duo Créateurs de Nuit. So they know how a space should feel, and how a booth has to work when the floor is full at 2 a.m.

DJ Ghost (Bjorn Wendelen) is one of the most respected pioneers of Belgian electronic music, with three decades of experience as a DJ and producer. His name is linked to Cherry Moon, Bonzai Records and Don Ghost Records. He knows better than anyone what a DJ needs, from the soundcheck to the last record.

That combination is what sets us apart. A designer does not know how a DJ works. A DJ does not know how to design a high-end piece of furniture. We bring both together.

Why a DJ booth by We Are Klank?

Most DJ booths on the market fall into two categories. Either they are purely functional: a steel frame, a black top, done. Or they look good, but are not made by people who play themselves.

We saw three problems that kept coming back:

• Height and ergonomics. A booth that is too low costs you your back after a set.
• Cable chaos. Power, audio and USB have to go somewhere, preferably out of sight.
• Presence. A booth takes centre stage in the room. It belongs to the interior, not against it.

A DJ booth is not a table. It is an instrument and a piece of furniture at the same time.

How we design

We design a booth the way we design an interior: starting from the space and the people who move through it.

In practice, that means we look at the working height, the depth your setup needs, where the cables run and how the booth looks from the crowd or in your living room, pool house, bar or man cave. Every detail has to be right for the DJ and for everyone looking at it.

It all started with GRID, our first prototype. It made its debut at We Are Klank, The Rooftop Edition in Antwerp on 23 August 2025, and kicked off the brand. GRID will be our third collection: a modular DJ booth you put together and extend with modules, panels, lamps and monitor stands. Today we are developing the design further. GRID comes to market in 2027.

In the meantime, two standard collections are already available: CUE and LOOP. Both are made of powder-coated aluminium and HPL wood.

• CUE is a professional DJ workspace for several setups, from a mixer with two CDJs to two turntables or one controller. Frame in black or yellow, top in black, walnut or oak.
• LOOP is made for a specific Pioneer DJ / AlphaTheta or Technics setup, for digital purists and vinyl lovers. Also available in solid walnut or oak, and as a Signature edition in black with yellow monitor stands.
